Posted by the University of Illinois Extension, this site lists the
many ways that farmers can protect their groundwater from contamination.
"The Illinois State Water Survey, a division of the Office of
Scientific Research and Analysis of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and affiliated with the University of Illinois,
is the primary agency in Illinois concerned with water and atmospheric resources."
The USGS monitors stream and lake levels and
conducts a wide variety of studies concerning both water quantity and water
quality. There Fact Sheets are particularly useful for a quick summary of
water issues.

information to government, business, and the public. Our research and service programs
encompass geologic mapping, water and mineral resources, environmental and engineering
