John Drea is Department Chair and Professor of Marketing at Western Illinois University, where he teaches Marketing Principles, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Decision Making, Marketing Research, and Applied Business Research.  His research interests are primarily in the use of consumer behavior models for predicting behavior, and in innovative practices in marketing education.  Dr. Drea has authored over 30 scholarly publications that have appeared in Transportation Journal, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Promotion Management, American Business Review, Journal of the Transportation Research Forum, Journal of Contemporary Business Issues, and Marketing Education Review, as well as numerous conference proceedings.  He is also the author of three in-class games Who Wants to Be a Marketer? (published in 2001) for use with Marketing,  by Lamb, Hair and McDaniel; Who Wants to Be an "A" Student? for use with Marketing by Pride and Ferrell (2002, 2005, and 2007 - forthcoming) and with Marketing Essentials, also by Pride and Ferrell (2005); and Master the Class for use with Business by Pride, Hughes, and Kapoor (2004) published by Houghton Mifflin. Dr. Drea is the President of 3pl-training.com, an online company specializing in training for the transportation brokerage industry.  He is the recipient of several teaching and research awards, including the American Marketing Association's Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education (2003); the Society for Marketing Advances Instructional Innovation Award (2000); WIU College of Business and Technology (CBT) Outstanding Teacher Award (1999), Society for Marketing Advances Distinguished Teaching Competition (1998), and the WIU CBT Outstanding Researcher Award (1998 and 2000.)  Prior to arriving at WIU, Dr. Drea worked for one year at Montana State University - Billings (Assistant Professor of Marketing) and 10+ years at John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL (Assistant Dean of Instruction, Director of Business and Industry Programs, and Assistant to the President)  He was named the Professional Staff Member (Administrator) of the Year at JWCC in 1994.  A native of Kincaid, IL, Dr. Drea holds a B.A. with majors in English and Business Administration from Illinois College (1980), an MBA degree from the University of Notre Dame (1982), and a DBA degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University (1994).  He has been married since 1985 to Brenda (Mohrman) Drea, and they have two children, Thomas and Kelsey.
