American Demographics (demographic information and consumer trends in the US)

CIA World Factbook (not as ominous as it sounds - cultural, demographic, and other information on countries around the world)
MEDISTAT (provides statistics on mortality, fertility, population, etc. for a limited number of nations)

Economic Data

Office for Economic Cooperation and Development (unemployment, interest rates, consumer prices, GDP, etc.)
Dun & Bradstreet (links to many articles on research and economic outlook)
Claritas (economic and demographic information for refining markets)
Hoovers (a great site for accessing information on publicly traded companies - I use it regularly!)
Red Herring (another good site for company data, especially for financial data)
